Classic Star Trek Chekov 1/4 Oz Pure Gold Proof Coin 1989 UNUSED SEALED. This is one in a series of seven commemorative gold coins depicting the main cast of the original classic Star Trek TV series.

Produced by Rarities Mint Inc. In 1989, this is an officially licensed product of Paramount Pictures. Each coin is 1/4 ounce of pure gold and struck in accordance to proof condition, and conforms to the specification contained on the Certificate of Authenticity, which accompanies the coin.

It is encapsulated to protect it and comes in a velveteen box. The reverse design features the U. Enterprise, sculpted by Karen Worth, and the inscription "Where no man has gone before".

The front design of this one depicts Ensign Chekov. An extremely rare item due to the release price. Less than 50 were ever produced of each design and the actual number is probably closer to 25. We were Rarities Mint largest customer for these coins and know that very few were distributed, but even our large stock is shrinking fast as the price of gold rises. All of these coins also were subject to some spotting on the surface, probably due to a defect in the minting process (articles have been written about this in various coin magazines).

This one is no exception and does have some heavy spotting. It is stored in a smoke and pet free environment.
