We're delighted to unveiled our latest coin collection - licensed by the British Museum. The series features highlights from among the countless masterpieces in the Museum's collection, starting with helmets from ancient Greece and Rome, Roman Britain and Anglo-Saxon England.

The second design in our British Museum coin collection features a bronze gladiator's helmet, dated to the 1st Century and found in Pompeii, Italy. This helmet would have been worn by a heavily armed Roman gladiator such as the samnite or murmillo. It is said to have been found in the gladiator's barracks at Pompeii. It has a grille of linked circles to protect the face, and a broad brim to protect the back and sides of the head. At the front of the helmet is a medallion of Hercules. The protective packaging for each coin shows another treasure from the Museum's collection - a Roman marble relief panel decorated with Roman and Dacian armor, from the 2nd century. Shown on the back of each package, which provides a numbered certificate of authenticity, are statements of metal purity and weight, and the signature of the Swiss Assayer Fondeur who assures the quality of the production.
