1999 Spain 20 Euro Cents coin 1st type; 1st map. Obverse displays head of the Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes front-facing, a quill and the twelve stars of Europe of whom four are bound by a band.

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547 - 1616) was an Early Modern Spanish writer widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language and one of the world's pre-eminent novelists. He is best known for his novel Don Quixote.
