1853 is not tremendously scarce overall, however, it's rare in true unc like this example. With CAC approval, there are only TWO coins in MS62, and ONE in 63. Comparatively to the 1854, which has SEVEN CAC in 62, and ONE in 63. 1854 is a more scarce date overall, but 1853 is tougher to find in UNC and for some odd reason, only costs half of what an 1854 would run you. DW recently listed an 1854 in 6 2CAC for 18,500 if I recall correctly, and the coin did not last long at all.
Here is your chance to lock up an earlier and rare example at this grade level, for approximately HALF the cost. We don't often like to use the word "undervalued", as the U. Coin market is mature and efficient, but clearly, this coin presents a tremendous value proposition for an advanced collector with value in mind.
